Julia Hansson Selected To 2012 Capital One National Academic All-America Second Team For Women's Soccer
Junior Becomes Only Second UB Student-Athlete In History To Receive This Prestigious National Honor From CoSIDA
Bridgeport, Conn.-University of Bridgeport women's soccer goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Jr., Tocksfors, Sweden) has been named to the 2012 Capital One National Academic All-America Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for her outstanding efforts in the classroom and on the playing field. She becomes the only the second UB student-athlete to earn National Academic All-America honors as selected by CoSIDA joining Cathleen Meadean who earned Second Team National Academic All-America honors in softball in 1993. Hansson is a Health Sciences major at Bridgeport with a 3.84 cumulative grade point average.
Bridgeport's all-time leader in career shutouts with 25 entering her senior season in 2013, Hansson posted seven clean sheets with an 11-6-2 record in 2012. In 2011, she led the nation in saves percentage and goals against average.
The Capital One Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011-12 D-III Academic All-America® teams program.
