Five Women's Soccer Players Earn 2012 All-East Coast Conference Honors
Julia Colley And Becky Wallis Named First Team All-ECC; Gabby Reis, Ashleigh Berg And Gabby Trombley Selected Second Team All-Conference
Central Islip, N.Y.-Five members of the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team have been selected to the 2012 All-East Coast Conference Teams in a vote of league coaches that was released on Monday evening.
Graduate student Julia Colley, a forward form Harlow, England, and team captain, senior Becky Wallis, a midfielder form Rockville Centre, N.Y., have been selected to the First Team All-East Coast Conference squad.
Colley finished second on the Purple Knights in scoring with 10 points on four goals and two assists this season, and Wallis added one goal and one assist. Both players also started all 19 matches for UB this season.
Three players, midfielder Gabby Reis and defenders Ashleigh Berg and Gabby Trombley, earned 2012 Second Team All-ECC accolades.
Reis, a freshman from West Haven, Conn., tied for third on the team in scoring with nine points on three goals and three assists.
Berg, a sophomore from Plymouth, Mass., and Trombley, a senior from Lydenborough, N.H., helped anchored a Bridgeport defense that recorded eight shutouts in 19 matches played in 2012.
The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team finished the 2012 season with an 11-6-2 overall record and a 6-2-0 East Coast Conference record, plus the Purple Knights advanced to this year's ECC Women's Soccer Championship Final.
UB's 11 wins during 2012 mark the twelfth straight year the Purple Knights have reached double-figure wins in a season.
