Two Goals In Each Half Leads Women's Soccer To 4-1 Victory At Molloy
# 1 Purple Knights Remain Undefeated At 11-0-0
Rockville Centre, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in each half, as the number one ranked Purple Knights picked up a 4-1 East Coast Conference road win over the Molloy College Lions on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, UB runs its overall record to an unblemished 11-0-0 mark, the best start in the program's history, and the Purple Knights are now 4-0-0 in the ECC. Molloy is now 7-5-0 overall and 3-2-0 in conference play.
Senior Kasey Kenny (Staten Island, N.Y.) opened the scoring for Bridgeport at the 15:00 mark of the first half when she took a beautiful long pass from junior Becky Wallis (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), who was playing in her hometown, and put the ball past the Molloy keeper, Nicole DellaPorta. UB freshman Giuana Prugger (Ortisei, Italy) scored her first collegiate goal just 17 seconds later when she capitalized on a turnover by the Lions defense and put a breakaway across the goal line.
Prugger would finish with a four- point day, as she assisted on both goals in the second half, another by Kenny, her team-leading eighth of the season, and one by senior Julia Colley (Harlow, England) who now has five tallies on the season.
Bridgeport sophomore goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) finally allowed a goal after 650 minutes and 14 seconds of scoreless play when Molloy's Alison Sloper found the back of the net at the 73:19 mark.
The Purple Knights women's soccer team is back in action at home on Saturday afternoon, October 15th when they host Dowling College in an East Coast Conference contest. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
