Women's Soccer Survives Road Test At Saint Anselm
# 1 Purple Knights Now 10-0-0 Overall After 1-0 Victory
Manchester, N.H.-Freshman Ashleigh Berg (Plymouth, Mass) scored the match's only goal with just over 17 minutes to play in regulation when she fired home a rebound off a shot from clasmmate Paige Adamsky (East Williston, N.Y.) to give the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team a tough 1-0 non-conference road win over a pesky St. Anselm College Hawks team. Bridgeport, ranked number one in the nation in NCAA Division II women's soccer by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for the second consecutive week, is now 10-0-0 overall, which is the program's best-ever start to a season. The Hawks are now 1-7-2 overall.
Berg's game-winning score is her second goal of the season.
UB goalie Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) made four saves to notch her sixth consecutive shutout and eighth clean sheet of the season. Hansson now not allowed a goal in 576:55 consecutive minutes played.
The Purple Knights are next in action on Saturday afternoon at Molloy College. Game time on Long Island is set for 12 noon.
