UB Women's Soccer Remains Undefeated With 3-1 Home Win Over Southern New Hampshire
Gabby Trombley's Game-Winner And Two Goals By Kasey Kenny Lift Purple Knights To The Victory
Bridgeport, Conn.-Junior Gabby Trombley (Lydenborough, N.H.) scored the game-winning goal with just under 15 minutes to play in regulation, and senior Kasey Kenny (Staten Island, N.Y.) added an insurance tally, her second goal of the match, just over four minutes later to help lift the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team to a 3-1 home non-conference win over the Southern New Hampshire Penmen on Wednesday night. With the win, the Purple Knights, who are ranked number seven in the nation this week by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), remain undefeated at 4-0. SNHU is now 2-3 on the season.
Kenny opened the scoring on the night when she netted her third goal of the season with 31:39 gone in the first half.
UB held a 1-0 lead until the 54th minute of play when Ashley Jaskula tied things up for the Penmen at 1-1.
Trombley scored the game-winning goal, her first of the season, off an assist from senior Katie Stanley (Oxon, England), and Kenny's second goal of the night and team-leading fourth of the season came off an excellent cross from freshman Giuana Prugger (Ortisei, Italy).
Bridgeport goalie Julia Hansson (So., Tocksfors, Sweden) made three saves to notch her fourth win of the year.
The Purple Knights will next be in action on Saturday afternoon at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. as they play their first road contest of the season and open East Coast Conference play.
