Women's Soccer Cruises Past Georgian Court, 6-0
Six Different Players Score Goals For # 17 Purple Knights
Bridgeport, Conn.-Six different players scored goals as the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team cruised to 6-0 home non-conference win over the Lions of Georgian Court University Lions on Thursday evening. With the victory, the Purple Knights, who are ranked number 17 in the nation in this week's National Soccer Coaches of America (NSCAA) Division II Poll, are now a perfect 3-0 on the year. Georgian Court is still winless in 2011 at 0-2-0.
In the first half, UB got goals from Asia Pulse (Jr., New Haven, Conn.), Julia Colley (Sr., Harlow, England), Kasey Kenny (Sr., Staten Island, N.Y.) and Ashleigh Berg (Fr., Plymouth, Mass.).
In the second half, senior Marie Biondi (West Haven, Conn.) and freshman Aulona Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) hit the back of the net for the Purple Knights.
Six different players, Kenny, Pulse, Berg, plus Katie Stanley (Sr., Oxon, England), Giuana Prugger (Fr., Ortisei, Italy) plus Anna Eriksson (Mariehamm, Finland) had assist on the evening for the winners.
Sophomore goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) notched her second straight shutout making six saves on the night.
The Bridgeport women's soccer team will take the weekend off before returning to action on Wednesday night, September 14 when the Purple Knights host Southern New Hampshire. Game time at Knights Field is set for 6:00 p.m.
