Linda Velaj Named Third Team 2010 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer All-American
Helped Purple Knights Make Four Straight NCAA Tournament Appearances During Her Four Years In A UB Uniform
Highland Heights, Ky.-University of Bridgeport women's soccer standout Linda Velaj (Senior, F, Stamford, Conn.) has been selected to the 2010 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America Third Team.
Velaj scored 20 goals and had seven assists for a total of 47 points in 2010 as she helped the Purple Knights to the Second Round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.
A four-time First Team All-East Coast Conference selection, Linda helped her team a berth in the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament during each of her four seasons in a Bridgeport uniform. She also finished her career with 60 total goals which ranks her second on the school's all-time goal scoring list.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the fifth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America and all-region teams. A total of 39 student-athletes representing 24 different institutions filled out the three teams.
