Linda Velaj Named ECC Women's Soccer Offensive Player Of The Week
Moves Into Second Place On UB All-Time Goal Scoring List With Nine Goals Last Week

Central Islip, N.Y.-University of Bridgeport senior Linda Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for her outstanding play in three matches last week. This is the third time this season that Velaj's has earned ECC weekly accolades.
Linda wrapped up the regular season in spectacular fashion as she helped the Purple Knights to a perfect 3-0 week by scoring nine goals and registering four assists for a total of 22 points. Linda's nine goals moved her into the second spot on the Bridgeport all-time career goal scoring list with 57 total goals. She opened the week with two goals versus Caldwell followed by a four goal performance against Wilmington. Velaj closed the week out with a three goal, four assist afternoon against St. Thomas Aquinas.
On the season, she leads Bridgeport in scoring with 17 goals and seven assists for 41 points in 15 matches played.
Velaj and her teammates will open play in the 2010 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament at Queen (N.Y.) College this Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
