Kasey Kenny Scores Game-Winning Goal With Only 42 Seconds To Play In Second Half As UB Women Defeat NYIT, 2-1
Purple Knights Now Unbeaten In Last Five Matches
Old Westbury, N.Y.-Junior Kasey Kenny (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal with only 42 seconds to play and just 20 seconds after New York Tech had tied the match at 1-1 to lift the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team to a 2-1 East Coast Conference road win over the host Bears on Saturday afternoon on Long Island. The victory keeps the UB women unbeaten in five matches and raises the Purple Knights' overall record to 7-2-1 and the team's ECC mark is now 2-1-1. NYIT is now 5-7-0 overall and 1-3-0 in conference play.
Kenny's game-winning tally is her second goal of 2010.
UB took a 1-0 lead in the match when sophomore Asia Pulse (New Haven, Conn.) scored her first goal of 2010 in the 67th minute.
Bridgeport is next in action on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. when the team travels to Stonehill College of a non-conference match-up.
