PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Sparked by another strong defensive effort, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team earned a 13-8 win at Holy Family on Saturday. The Purple Knights have now won their most games in a season (9) since 2017.
After a 1-1 first quarter, UB led 8-5 at halftime and 11-7 after three quarters. Up 8-7 early in the third quarter, the Purple Knights closed the game on a 5-1 run.
Danielle Kreitler piloted the UB attack with a team-high six goals. Megan Kreitler joined in with three tallies while Max McDermott found the back of the net twice.
Tara Dimaio and Emily Stuart each added goals as well while Dimaio led Bridgeport with four caused turnovers. Stuart finished with UB's highest ground ball total with four.
Junior goalkeeper Jacklyn Mellia tallied a crucial 12 saves en route to earning her ninth win of the season. She is currently ranked second in the CACC in save percentage (44.5%) and third in total stops (106).
