Women's Lacrosse Runs Past Caldwell to Move to 6-1

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Opening up conference play in front of their home fans, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team earned a 16-7 win over Caldwell on Wednesday. The Purple Knights, now 6-1 this season, are off to their best start since 2017.
It was another dominant display from the home squad as UB built up a 9-0 advantage after the first quarter. The Purple Knights went on to lead by at least eight goals across the final 29:27 of regulation.
Bridgeport's six victories this season have come by an average of 6.8 goals.
Amongst the highlights on Wednesday was a milestone moment for Danielle Kreitler. The graduate student notched her 100th career goal in the victory, becoming just the sixth player in program history to hit three digits.
Kreitler finished the game with six tallies and an assist, upping her season point total to 36. She now leads the Purple Knights in goals (25), assists (11) and total points this season.
Max McDermott and Emily Stuart also showed out on Wednesday with a combined nine points. McDermott recorded three goals and two assists while Stuart chipped in three tallies and a helper.
On the defensive side of things, Tereza Kreuzova put together a tremendous stat line of four caused turnovers, five draw controls and a pair of ground balls.
Behind Kreuzova was the winning goalkeeper, Jacklyn Mellia, who finished with eight more saves in net. She is now slotted third in the CACC in both total stops (64) and save percentage (48.1%) this season.
