Women's Lacrosse Wins at Chowan, 19-10
Danielle Kreitler notched a career-high six goals, including four in the first half.
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Less than 24 hours removed from a season-opening win at Barton, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team picked up a 19-10 victory at Chowan on Wednesday afternoon. The Purple Knights are now 2-0 for the second time in three seasons.
It was a career-best performance that sparked UB against the Hawks. Danielle Kreitler notched a career-high six goals, including four in the first half. She also dished out a pair of assists to finish with a game-high eight points.
Six goals was also the total for Max McDermott, who matched her output from last night and now has 12 goals in two games as a Purple Knight.
In addition to scoring, the duo of Kreitler and McDermott combined for eight ground balls and five draw controls.
Sophomore Tara Dimaio joined in with a sensational effort of her own. The Long Island native found the back of the net four times, in addition to nabbing a career-high seven ground balls.
With 16 of UB's tallies coming from three players, it was one goal each from Tereza Kreuzova, Cassidy Dalton and Emily Stuart that rounded out the scoring.
Stuart also contributed a pair of assists, while leading the squad with six draw controls. Speaking of assists, sophomore Elizabeth Pitts dished out a team-high three of them.
In the net, Jacklyn Mellia earned her second win in as many days. The junior keeper finished with five stops, and now has 19 over her first two games this season.
