Bridgeport Moves To 2-0 In CACC Women's Lacrosse Play With Road Victory Over Alliance
Team Returns Home To Face Georgian Court On Saturday At 3 PM
Jersey City, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team moved to 2-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play and evened its overall season record at 3-3 cruising to a 18-2 road win over Alliance University on Wednesday afternoon in New Jersey. With the loss, Alliance remains winless so far in 2023 at 0-7, and they are 0-1 in conference action.
The Purple Knights raced out to a 10-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked on their way to the victory. Wednesday also marked the second straight outing that UB has netted 18 goals.
Graduate student Andrea Bascilicato (Guilford, Conn.) led the Bridgeport offensive attack against Alliance with an eight-point afternoon on four goals and four assists.
Senior Tereza Kreuzova (Prague, Czech Republic) and Megan Kreitler (Grad., Shelton, Conn.) each had a hat trick on Wednesday, and Danielle Kreitler (Grad., Shelton, Conn.) and freshman Emily Stuart (Rising Sun. Md.) put home two goals apiece. Stuart also added two assists.
Megan Kreitler's three goals now give her 102 points during her UB career.
Bridgeport got single goals from Evelyn Edwards (Fr., Puyallup, Wash.), Molly Blackadar (Fr., Atkinson, N.H.), Mikayla Kennedy (So., Quincy, Mass.) and Ally Toth (Sr., Sandy Hook, Conn.). Edwards chipped in two assist on the day, and Toth contributed one helper.
In goal, Jacklyn Mellia (So., Nanuet, N.Y.) made four saves to notch her third victory of the season.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team will open a two-game homestand on Saturday afternoon at Knights Field when Bridgeport hosts Georgian Court University in a CACC contest set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
