Women's Lacrosse Nets A Season-High 18 Goals In Conference-Opening Win Over Chestnut Hill
Purple Knights Defeat The Griffins, 18-10, To Open CACC Action
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team opened its 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon at Knights Field with an 18-10 victory over the visiting Chestnut Hill College Griffins on Saturday. With the win, Bridgeport is now 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the CACC. CHC is now an even 3-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
The Purple Knights broke open a tight 8-7 game heading into the second half by netting five goals in both the third and fourth quarters.
Saturday's 18 goals are a season-high offensive output for UB so far this season.
Megan Kreitler (Grad., Shelton, Conn.) led the Bridgeport goal scorers with six on Saturday. So far in 2023, Megan leads the Purple Knights with a total of 15 goals.
Freshman Emily Stuart (Rising Sun, Md.) also had a six-point day for the winners netting four goals and dishing off two assists.
Tereza Kreuzova (Sr., Prague, Czech Republic) and Danielle Kreitler (Grad., Shelton, Conn.) each had a hat trick for UB, and Andrea Basilicato (Grad., Guilford, Conn.) rounded out the five Bridgeport goal scorers on the day with two.
Kreuzova had a fine all-around game on Saturday adding an assist, plus taking in nine draw controls, picking up three ground balls and causing three turnovers.
Danielle Kreitler has a five-point afternoon, as she added two assist to the Purple Knights' cause, and she corralled four draw controls.
Sophomore Jacklyn Mellia (Naunet, N.Y.) earned her second win of the season in the Bridgeport goal making three saves.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team continues conference play with a rod clash against Alliance University on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
