Andrea Basilicato Leads UB With A Single-Game Career Best Seven Goals And Shyla Murray Reaches 100 Career Points Two Two Goals And One Assist On The Day
Bridgeport, Conn.-Trailing 11-10 with 9:27 remaining in the game, the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team scored the next five goals of the contest to grab a 15-10 lead which they never relinquished on their way to a 16-13 victory over the visiting Post University Eagles in the Purple Knights' final non-conference tilt of the season and on Senior Day at Knights Field on Saturday afternoon. With the win, UB ups its overall record in 2022 to 6-3. Post is now 3-8 overall.
It was a career-high day for graduate student Andrea Basilicato (Guilford, Conn.), who fired home a single-game, career-best seven goals and added an assist for eight points on the afternoon.
Classmate Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) etched her name in the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse record book on Saturday as she joined 100-career-point club with two goals and one assist to give her exactly 100 points for her time in a Purple Knights' uniform.
Senior Megan Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) chipped in three goals for the winners on Saturday, and classmates Jessica Kinser (Voorhees, N.J.) and Addison Plume (Glen Arm, Md.) helped spark the Bridgeport offense, as they each had two goals and one helper on Senior Day.
Freshman goalkeeper Jacklyn Mellia (Nanuet, N.Y.) made 10 saves on the day to pick up her sixth win of 2022.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team will return to East Coast Conference play, as the Purple Knights travel to our Nation's Capital on Friday afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. tussle with the University of the District of Columbia.
