Springfield, Mass-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team stayed perfect in the early part of the 2022 season with a hard-fought 14-12 road win over the host American International College Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon in Massachusetts. UB is now 3-0 so far this season, and AIC is an even 1-1 in the early going of 2022.
Senior Megan Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) led the Bridgeport offense with five goals on Saturday, and twin sister Danielle Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) continued her strong play in the early part of 2022 netting two goals and dishing off three assists for five points after accumulating nine points in the win at Felcian on Wednesday.
Graduate students Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) and Courtney Hylok (Muskegon, Mich.), each chipped in two goals for the winners.
Freshman goalkeeper Jacklyn Mellia (Nanuet, N.Y.) played a strong game in net for the Purple Knights making eight stops to picked up her third win of the year.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team will open a two-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon when Chestnut Hill College comes to Knights Field for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference game.
