Eleven Different Players Tally Points As Women's Lacrosse Dominates Queens (N.Y.) College, 21-3, On Senior Day
Victory Snaps A Three-Game Losing Streak For The Purple Knights
Bridgeport, Conn.-Ten different players scored goals and 11 Purple Knights tallied points on Saturday, as the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing streak and made it a happy Senior Day with a 21-3 East Coast Conference win over Queens (N.Y.) College. With the win, UB is now 8-6 overall and 3-3 in the ECC. Queens (N.Y.) slips to 2-14 overall and 1-7 in conference action. Saturday also marked the third time this season that the Purple Knights have scored 21 goals in a game and the fifth time the team has netted 20 or more markers.
All five Bridgeport seniors got on the scoresheet in Saturday's win led by Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) with five goals and two assists for seven points, Amanda Fitzpatrick (New Hampton, N.Y.) with two goals and one assist, Ava Gambardella (West Haven, Conn.) with two goals, Geovanna Ferreira (Danbury, Conn.) with two assists and Isabella Theberge (Atkinson, N.H.) with one goal.
Junior Barbara Orsini (N. Babylon, N.Y.) led the UB offense in Saturday's win scoring five and dishing off a pair of assists for seven points.
Freshmen Hannah McDermott (Guilford, Conn.) and Megan Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.), each had two goals for UB, and sophomore Julia Ruscio (St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada), and freshmen Danielle Kreitler (Shelton, Conn.) plus Addison Plume (Glen Arm, Md.) rounded out the Purple Knights' goal scorers with a single tally apiece.
Junior goalkeeper Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) made six saves in net for UB to pick up win number seven of the 2019 campaign.
Up next, the University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team will close out its regular season home slate with an ECC clash against LIU Post on Tuesday afternoon at Knights Field. Action is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
