UB Women's Lacrosse Earns First Win Of 2018 With 16-5 Victory At Nyack
Junior Courtney Forry Puts Home Five Goals And Adds Four Assists For A Career-Best Nine-Point Day
Nyack, N.Y.- The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team gained its first win of the 2017-2018 season as the took down the Nyack College Warriors 16-5. After a slow start trailing 3-0, the Purple Knights gained momentum and race out to a 9-4 lead at the half and never looked back. UB is now 1-3 on the young season; while Nyack remians winless at 0-5.
Three Bridgeport player contributed three or more goals on the day. Junior Courtney Forry (Reinholds, P.A.) led the charge scoring five goals and dishing out four assists making it a career-high nine-point day. Freshman Julia Ruscio (St. Catherines, ON, Canada) finished close behind with a career-best four goals. Junior Ava Gambardella (West Haven, Conn.) finished with three goals, and sophomore Lindsey Guadagni (Bayville, N.Y.) put home two for UB.
The Purple Knights got single tallies from Barbara Orsini (So., North Babylon, N.Y.) and Shyla Murray (Fr.,Brentwood, N.Y.)
Sophomore Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) played all sixty minutes in goal for UB making seven saves to earn the win on Saturday.
The UB women's lacrosse team is back in action on Monday afternoon, when they host Chestnut Hill College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
