Rockville Centre, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team travelled to Long island on Thursday evening for an East Coast Conference contest against the host Molloy College Lions, and the Purple Knights came up short, as Molloy posted an 18-11 win. With the loss, UB is now 7-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Lions up their overall mark to 9-3, and they are now 4-2 in the ECC.
Senior Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.) led the Bridgeport offense at Molloy with five points on four goals and one assist.
Freshman Barbara Orsini (N. Babylon, N.Y.) added three goals for the Purple Knights on Thursday, and sophomore Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) also finished with a three-point evening scoring two goals and dishing off one assist.
Senior Shannon Colligan (Greenwich, Conn.) and junior Arianna Weingrad (Hicksville, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for UB on Thursday, as they each had one goal.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's lacrosse team will return to Knights field on Thursday, April 20, when the Purple Knights host the University of the District of Columbia in a rare 12 noon weekday start time.
