Allyson Howard Selected As UB's New Head Women's Lacrosse Coach
Takes Over A Program That Posted A 12-4 Record Last Season As Former Head Coach Kate Smullen Moves Into A Full-Time Administrative Role In Bridgeport's Athletic Department
Bridgeport, Conn.-University of Bridgeport Director of Athletics Anthony Vitti announced today that Allyson Howard has been selected as the Purple Knights' new head women's lacrosse coach. Howard has served as the head women's lacrosse club coach at San Diego State University since August of 2012. She also has experience coaching at the NCAA Division II level, as she has also been assistant varsity women's lacrosse coach at Grand Valley State in Michigan, her alma mater, plus Allyson served as the SDSU varsity women's assistant coach from June of 2001 through August of 2012.. She will be replacing Kate Smullen; the only head coach the UB women's lacrosse has known in its five-year history. Smullen has decided to move into a full-time administrative role in the University of Bridgeport Department of Athletics.
Howard, who inherits a team that went a school-record 12-4 during the 2015 season, will also assist in UB's Sports Information Department.

Allyson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Grand Valley State University in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia (Ca.) University. She is currently perusing another Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from Eastern Michigan University.
