Women's Lacrosse Falls To Chestnut Hill, 10-9, In Overtime
UB Right Back In Action On Wednesday At Dowling
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team saw its overall record fall to 5-7 on Tuesday afternoon, as the Purple Knights lost a tough 10-9 overtime non-conference decision at Knights Field versus the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College. UB led 8-6 with 7:59 to play, but Chestnut Hill battled back to score with only 55 second to play in the second half to send the contest into overtime, and then CHC netted the first two goals in overtime to grab the win. The Griffins are now 4-12 on the season.
Sophomores Gabrielle Valela (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Katie King (Paxton, Mass.), each had three goals for Bridgeport on Tuesday. Sophomores Alexia Costa (Providence, R.I.) and Emily Catalano (N. Babylon, N.Y.) plus freshman Allie Wiggins (Waterford, Conn.) each had one goal for UB, and Wiggins added two assists.
Graduate student Marissa Gambardella (West Haven, Conn.) had 10 saves for the Purple Knights on the day.
The UB women's lacrosse team is right back in action on Wednesday afternoon, as they travel to Long Island to take on Dowling College at 4:00 p.m. in an East Coast Conference contest.
