Sepulveda and Kenney earn WCGA Regular-Season All-America Honors
Sepulveda was named first-team All-Around while Kenney secured second-team All-Around.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Fresh off sensational sophomore campaigns, Lola Sepulveda and Abigail Kenney of the Bridgeport gymnastics team have earned WCGA Division II regular-season All-America honors. Sepulveda was named first-team All-Around while Kenney secured second-team All-Around.
Sepulveda is now a two-time All-America honoree after taking second-team accolades in 2023. She qualified this year thanks to an NQS of 38.950. Sepulveda was especially impressive at UB's first home meet where she tallied a career-high all-around score of 39.225. She posted career-bests in bars (9.825), beam (9.825) and floor (9.850) on that day as well.
In addition to the WGCA recognition, Sepulveda's resume this season includes three All-GEC honors and an individual qualification into the USGA National Championship meet. She was also named the GEC Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 30.
Kenney put together an equally impressive campaign. The New Jersey native was a four-time All-GEC honoree while also earning an individual qualification into USAGs this weekend. Kenney was tabbed as the GEC Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 17.
Kenney finished just behind Sepulveda with an NQS of 38.925 in the all-around this season. She enjoyed her most success in a dual meet at Brown where she registered a career-best mark of 39.150. Kenney's total against the Bears also included a career-high score of 9.825 on beam.
Sepulveda and Kenney will now gear up for the 2024 USAG Nationals this weekend at West Chester University.
