Gymnastics Competes at 2024 GEC Championships
Purple Knights recorded a score of 193.500.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Beginning the postseason portion of their schedule, the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team recorded a score of 193.500 at the 2024 Gymnastics East Conference Championships held at Yale on Saturday.
Event Scores: Floor (48.275) | Vault (47.975) | Bars (48.450) | Beam (48.800)
Amongst the individual highlights was an all-around score of 39.000 for sophomore Abigail Kenney. She has only eclipsed that total one other time this season.
Kenney began things with team-high scores on both vault and floor. She posted a mark of 9.775 in both events. Kenney also posted a solid 9.725 on the bars.
Bridgeport's top team event was the beam. Senior Hannah Barry registered UB's top score of the day in the event courtesy of a 9.825. Sophomore Lola Sepulveda also placed nicely with a mark of 9.800.
Sepulveda's beam score was part of an all-around tally of 38.825. She also picked up 9.7s on both floor and vault.
UB's other top performers included Emily Hernandez, who compiled Bridgeport's top tally on bars (9.775) while Nova Staruk finished right behind Kenney on vault (9.750).
All in all, UB had nine top-ten finishers against the field of gymnasts from SCSU, Cornell and William & Mary.
