UB Gymnastics Opens A Busy Stretch Of Action With A Dual Meet At William & Mary
Hosts Top The Purple Knights, 191.375-189.900
Williamsburg, Va.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team opened a busy stretch of action on Saturday with a Gymnastics East Conference dual at the College of William & Mary, and the hosts topped the Purple Knights, 191.375-189.900.
As a team, UB scored 48.325 on the vault taking the top four spots, 47.475 on the balance beam, 47.600 in the floor exercise and 46.00 on the bars.
On the vault, freshman Lola Sepulveda (Woodbridge, Va.), competing in her home state took first place with a career-best score of 9.800. Sepulveda also took top honors in Saturday's all-around posting a total score of 37.825 in all four events.
Senior Joanna Chambers (Georgetown, Tex.) took second on the vault with a score of 9.775, and she led UB on the bars with a score of 9.550, which put her in fifth place.
On the balance beam, UB senior Nicole Javinett (Marlboro, N.Y.) tied for first place with a score of 9.650, and in the floor exercise freshman Abigail Kenney (Brick, N.J.) took sixth place with a career-high score of 9.725.
Junior Kieran Ross (Reno, Nev.) also competed in all four events on Saturday, and she posted a score of 37.075 in the all-around.
Up next, it will be a quick turnaround for the UB women's gymnastics team, as the Purple Knights are right back in action on Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. when the squad travels to Long Island for quad meet host by LIU that will also feature Brown and Towson.
