Gymnastics Wraps Up 2022 Regular Season Schedule At Maryland Quad Meet
Senior Kathryn Doran Posts An Impressive 9.925 On The Bars
College Park, Md.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team wrapped up its 2022 regular season schedule on Sunday afternoon taking part in a quad meet hosted by the University of Maryland, and the Purple Knights finished in fourth place with a total of 188.475 points. The host Terrapins took first place on Sunday with a team score of 197.025, George Washington was second with a score of 196.325 followed by Penn at 196.225 and UB.
As a team, Bridgeport scored 48.450 on the balance beam, 47.600 in the floor exercise, 46.350 on the bars and 46.075 on the vault.
Per usual, Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) led the Purple Knights with an outstanding performance on the bars, as she posted a season and career-best score of 9.925 to tie for second place. That 9.925 score also ties the school record on the bars.
Freshman Kiana Session (Chandler, Az.), who finished third in Sunday's all-around with a score of 38.225 in the four events, was UB's top finisher on the vault with a score of 9.575, and she tied with teammate, graduate student Alexis Richardson (Coram, N.Y.) for top score in the floor exercise at 9.625. Richardson also scored a career-best 9.725 on the balance beam.
Senior Nicole Javinett (Marlboro, N.Y.) topped Bridgeport on the balance beam with a score of 9.825 (career-best).
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will close out the 2022 season at the inaugural Gymnastics East Conference Championship hosted by Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, next Saturday, March 19.
