Gymnastics Tops Rhode Island College On Senior Night
Purple Knights Defeat RIC, 188.250-182.450
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team posted a 188.250-182.450 dual meet win over Rhode Island College on Senior Night in the Wheeler Recreation Center on Tuesday evening.
The Purple Knights won all four events on Tuesday scoring a 47.875 on the vault, a 47.750 on the beam, a 46.675 on the bars and a 45.950 in the floor exercise.
On the vault, UB took the first five place with freshman Olivia Imbarlina (Pittsburgh, Pa.) taking first place with a score of 9.650.
On the bars, senior Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada), one of four seniors honored on the evening along with Nicole Javinett (Marlboro, N.Y.), Jordan Streete (Agawam, Mass.) and Crystal Gwinn (New Port Richey, Fla.), took first place on the bars with a score of 9.865.
On the balance beam, freshman Kiana Session (Chandler, Az.), who won Tuesday all-around with a score of 38.550 for the four events, took the top spot with a score of 9.775.
Senior Crystal Gwinn closes out her career in the Wheeler Recreation Center in fine style by taking first place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.775.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. on Thursday evening to take part in a quad meet hosted by Temple University that will also feature Maryland and Southern Connecticut State.
