Women's Gymnastics Takes Fifth Place At University Of Maryland Meet
Team Will Host Senior Night This Coming Saturday Night With A 6:30 PM Quad Meet
College Park, Maryland-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team traveled to the University of Maryland on Sunday afternoon for a five-team meet in College Park, and UB finished in fifth place. The host Terrapins won the event with a team score of 196.300. West Chester took second at 193.325, followed by Cornell in third at 193.325, Southern Connecticut Sate in fourth at 191.950 and the Purple Knights in fifth with a team total of 191.900.
As a team on Sunday, Bridgeport posted a 49.025 in the floor exercise, a 48.350 on the bars, a 47.675 on the vault and a 46.850 on the balance beam.
Junior Kelly Aycock (Locust Grove, Ga.) was the Purple Knights top finisher in the floor exercise with a score of 9.850, and senior Kelli Tereshko (Madison, Indiana) posted the same score on the bars to be the team's top finisher in that event.
Senior, team captain Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) topped the Purple Knights on the beam with a score of 9.650, and Campbell plus freshman Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) posted team-best scores of 9.650 on the vault.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will close out its 2018 home schedule on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. when the team host Senior Night with a quad meet featuring the Purple Knights, Yale, Brown and Centenary (La.) College.
