Women's Gymnastics Closes Out 2017 Home Schedule By Winning Quad Meet With A Score Of 194.450
Purple Knights Take The Top Spot In All Four Individual Events Plus The All-Around On Tuesday
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team closed out its 2017 home schedule in fine style on Tuesday night at the Wheeler Recreation Center, as the Purple Knights took first place in a quad meet with a team score of 194.450. Brown University took second on Tuesday with a score of 193.425. Southern Connecticut State was third with a score of 190.350, and Rhode Island College was fourth on Tuesday with a total of 182.950.
As team Bridgeport scored 49.175 in the floor exercise, 48.575 on the vault, 48.475 on the bars and 48.225 on the balance beam.
In the floor exercise, UB freshman Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.), who won Tuesday night's all-around with a score of 38.925 in the four events, and senior Brianna Comport (Gilbertsville, Pa.) tied for first place with scores of 9.900. Senior Randi Cutolo (S. Jordan, Utah) finished in tie for third place for the Purple Knights in the floor exercise with a score of 9.875.
Comport also took first place on the balance beam with a score of 9.950, as one judge flashed a score of 10.0.
A pair of Purple Knights tied for first place on the bars as senior Christine Liautaud (Cary, Illinois) and sophomore Thomara Powell-Brown (Rocky Hill, Conn.) each scored 9.750.
On the vault, Bridgeport senior Kimberly Stewart (Eastham, Mass.) made it a clean sweep of the top spot in the individual events by grabbing first place with a score of 9.825.
Junior Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) finished second in Tuesday's all-around with a total of 38.750.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will head to the desert for a meet at Arizona State on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Mountain Time.
