Women's Gymnastics Advances To 2015 USAG Team Finals On Saturday Night
Purple Knights Will Be Looking For Seventh Straight National Title On Saturday
Philadelphia. Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team moved through to the team finals of the 2015 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championship meet on Friday night by taking second place in its semifinal group. The Purple Knights, who will be looking for their seventh straight USAG Women's Collegiate National Team Title on Saturday, posted a team score of 193.700 to take second behind Seattle Pacific University (193.825). UB and SPU will be joined by Lindenwood University and Texas Women's University, the top two teams for Friday's first semifinal, in the USAG team finals which will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and take place in the Palestra on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
In the UB's semifinal session, Penn took third place with a score of 193.100, and Yale was fourth with a score of 189.500.
As team, Bridgeport posted scores of 48.300 on the vault, 48.150 on the bars, 48.225 on the beam and 49.025 in the floor exercise.
UB senior Sasha Tsikhanovich (Marysville, Ohio) won the all-around in the Purple Knights' session with a score of 38.900 in the four events. Her score was the second best all-around total in the two sessions.
Sasha's took first place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.925 to top classmate Caitlin Perry (N. Kingston, R.I.), who took second place with a score of 9.875. Tsikhanovich also placed second on the beam with a score of 9.800.
