Purple Knights Top Brown With A Season-High Score Of 195.475 In Women's Gymnastics Lone Home Meet Of 2015 Season
Senior Sasha Tsikhanovich Wins Wednesday's All-Around As She Is Honored On Senior Day With Classmates Chisaki Hagata And Caitlin Perry
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team gave their home fans quite a treat on Wednesday night as the Purple Knights posted a season-high team score of 195.475 to defeat the visiting Brown University Bears, who totaled 192.925 points, in UB's only home meet of the 2015 season. Wednesday was also Senior Night, as Bridgeport honored its three seniors, Chisaki Hagata (Pittsburg, Calif.), Caitlin Perry (N. Kingston, R.I.) and Sasha Tsikhanovich (Marysville, Ohio).
Tsikhanovich did not disappoint in her final home meet in the Wheeler Recreation Center, as she won the all-around competition posting a total of 39.425 for the four events. She tied for first place on the vault with teammate Kimberly Stewart (So., Eastham, Mass.) with a score of 9.775, took first place on the bars (9.900) and was first in the floor exercise with a score of 9.975, as she receive a perfect 10 from one of the judges. Sasha tied for third on the beam with a score of 9.775.
UB's Brianna Comport (So., Gilbertsville, Pa.) took first place in the beam with a score of 9.800.
The Purple Knights went one-two-three on the bars as sophomores Amber Hill (Windsor Locks, Conn.) was second with a score of 9.850 and Christine Liautaud (Cary, Illinois) was third with a score of 9.825 behind Tsikhanovich.
Bridgeport junior Randi Cutolo (S. Jordan, Utah) placed second in the floor exercise with a career-high score of a 9.900.
UB freshman Kelsey Campbell (Las Vegas, Nev.) was second in the all-around on Wednesday with a total of 28.875 on the vault, bars, beam and floor exercise.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team travels to William & Mary for a meet on Saturday evening.
