Women's Basketball Storms Past Georgian Court, 73-64
Trailing into the fourth quarter, the Purple Knights closed the game with a 26-13 stretch.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Despite facing a deficit going into the fourth quarter, the University of Bridgeport's women's basketball team earned a 73-64 win over Georgian Court on Saturday. The Senior Day victory pushes the Purple Knights' conference record to 6-5 this season.

Trailing by four after 30 minutes, UB dominated the fourth quarter courtesy of a 26-13 game-closing stretch. In fact, the home squad began the fourth quarter with a 14-0 run that helped the Purple Knights cruise to victory in the end.
Bridgeport led by as many as 13 points in the fourth while shooting 11-of-14 from the free-throw line. All in all, the Purple Knights' 73 total points and 21 total made free throws are both season highs. Their eight made threes also matched a season high.
Inside the Numbers
Defensively, UB posted season bests in both team steals (13) and team blocks (8). They also forced a total of 20 GCU turnovers.
Individually, it was a balanced attack. Four Purple Knights finished with at least nine points and nine different players made at least one field goal.
Senior Stephanie McBride was once again terrific for the Purple and White. The Brooklyn native rattled off a stat line of 11 points, 16 rebounds, five blocks and three assists.
McBride has now totaled a remarkable five games with at least 15 boards. She is up to third in the CACC in rebounds per game (9.8) while leading the league in blocks per contest (2.2).
Another senior Shakira Hester served as UB's leading scorer with 14 points while Sade Young chipped in 12 off the bench (season high). Hester also piloted Bridgeport in the steals department with five.
The Purple Knights' final double-digit scorer was Samirah Akinwunmi with 10 points, which included a trio of three-pointers.
Bridgeport outrebounded Georgian Court, 39-31, with 17 of those boards coming on the offensive side of things.
