Big Fourth Quarter Lifts Host Caldwell University To A 77-65 CACC Win Over UB Women's Basketball
Junior Kelis Rogers Nets A Career-High 15 Points On The Night Hitting 5-of-6 Three Pointers
Caldwell, N.J.-The host Caldwell University Cougars outscored the visiting University of Bridgeport women's basketball team 22-10 in the fourth quarter to post a 77-65 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win in the Garden State on Wednesday. Bridgeport led the game by 10 points, 48-38, with 6:32 remaining in the third quarter, but the hosts closed out the quarter on 17-7 run to tie the tilt at 55-55 entering the final stanza. The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Purple Knights, who are now an even 7-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play. Caldwell moves to 6-7 overall, and the Cougars are now 2-3 in the CACC.
Caldwell benefited from 21 UB turnovers which they turned into 33 points.
Freshman Amani Melendez (Woodbridge, Va.) led the Purple Knights in scoring with 16 points. She was followed by junior Kelis Rogers (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who hit 5-of-6 three-points shots to record a career-high 15 points.
Senior Stephanie McBride (Brooklyn, N.Y.) rounded out the trio of Purple Knights in double-digit scoring with 14 points, and she also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Up next, the UB women will return to Hubbell Gym on Saturday afternoon looking to get back in the win column when they host the Thomas Jefferson University Rams in a CACC contest that will tip-off at 1:00 p.m.
