Brianna Meekins Nets A Game-High 17 Points But UB Women Fall To D'Youville
Saints Defeat The Purple Knights, 61-52
Bridgeport, Conn.-After scoring 72 points in a win over Staten Island on Saturday afternoon in Hubbell Gym, the University of Bridgeport women's basketball team struggled on offense on Sunday, as the Purple Knights shot only 30.5 per from the floor (18-of-59), as UB fell to the visiting Saints of D'Youville college, 61-52, in an East Coast Conference contest. UB is now 7-14 overall and 4-10 in the ECC. The Saints even their overall season mark at 10-10 and move to 5-9 in conference action.
Bridgeport's Brianna Meekins (So., Bridgeport, Conn.) lead all scorers on the day with 17, and she was joined in double figures by graduate students Emily Brown (Haledon, N.J.) with 12 points and Samirah Henderson (Rahway, N.J.) with 10 points.
Meekins and junior Stephanie McBride (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Bridgeport in rebounding, as they each grabbed eight boards.
Stella Mollica led three D'Youville players in double-digit scoring with 16 points.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team will close out its three-game homestand on Wednesday night when the Purple Knights host Molloy College in an ECC game set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
