Stephanie McBride Named ECC Women's Basketball Player Of The Week
Averaged An Impressive Double-Double In Two Games Of 21.5 Points And 15.0 Rebounds Per Contest
West Babylon, N.Y.-University of Bridgeport junior Stephanie McBride (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in games that took place from January 17-23, 2022. This is the third time this season that McBride has been recognized by the ECC, as she received conference Defensive Player of the Week honors two times earlier in the 2021-22 campaign.
She averaged an impressive double-double of 21.5 points and 15.0 rebounds per game helping the Purple Knights go 1-1 last week. Stephanie also blocked five shots in the two games and added two steals and one assist on the week. In a tough one-point loss at Molloy on Wednesday, she scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds. Sunday's win over Queens was a career day for McBride in both scoring and rebounding with 25 points and 20 rebounds. So far in 2021-22, she is averaging a double-double per game at 12.3 points and a team-leading 11.1 rebounds per outing. McBride also leads the team with 26 blocked shots so far this year.
This week, the UB women's basketball team is slated to host St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday evening and travel to Mercy College on Sunday afternoon.
