Women's Basketball Falls To Southern New Hampshire In 2021-22 Season Opener
Samirah Henderson Leads The Purple Knights With 20 Points On The Day
Caldwell, N.J.-Four players reached double-digit scoring on Saturday afternoon, but it was not enough for the University of Bridgeport women's basketball team, as the Purple Knights fell to the Southern New Hampshire Penmen, 88-65, in the 2021-22 season opener for both team at the Caldwell University Conference Crossover Classic in New Jersey.
Graduate student Samirah Henderson (Rahway, N.J.) led UB with 20 points on the day, as she hit 8-of-12 field goals, including going 2-of-3 from three-point range and a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line.
Henderson was joined in double digits by classmate Janiece Loney (Herndon, Va.), junior Stephanie McBride (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and newcomer Brianna Meekins (So., Bridgeport, Conn.) who each netted 10 points to begin the 2021-22 campaign.
Emily Brown (Haledon, N.J.) led Bridgeport on the glass grabbing six boards
SNHU's Adriana Timeberlake led all scorers in the game with 26 points.
The Penmen raced out to a 10-2 lead to start the game and never trailed from that point on.
The UB women's basketball team is right back in action on Sunday, as the Purple Knights return to Caldwell to face the host Cougars at 2:00 p.m. to close out the season-opening crossover classic.
