Women's Basketball Struggles In Second Half As Purple Knights Fall At Queens (N.Y.) College
UB Led 31-29 At The Half But Fall 75-60
Flushing, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team held a 31-29 halftime lead, but the host Queens (N.Y.) College roared back to score 46 points in the second half, 23 in each quarter, to post a 75-60 East Coast Conference win on Saturday afternoon in New York City. UB is now 4-17 overall and 2-7 in conference play. QC ups its season mark to 6-13, and the Knights are now 3-6 in the ECC.
Senior Kyle Felton (Lithonia, Ga.) led the Purple Knights coming off the bench with a near double-double of a Bridgeport career-best and game-high 24 points and nine rebounds. Felton also added two steals, two blocks and one assist.
UB juniors Samirah Henderson (Rahway, N.J.) and Janiece Loney (Herndon, Va.) were next in scoring on Saturday, as the each netted nine points.
Senior Judit Valls Dellavalle (Barcelona, Spain) led Bridgeport on the glass grabbing 10 rebounds.
Raiana Brown led five Queens' players in double figures with 23 points, and Brown finished a double-double amassing 10 rebounds.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team returns home for a pair of games beginning on Friday night at 5:00 p.m. when they host Daemen College in Hubbell Gym.
