Sparkill, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Knights fell at St. Thomas Aquinas College, 89-54, in East Coast Conference action. With the loss, UB is now an even 4-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. STAC raises its overall mark to 8-1 and 2-0 in the ECC.
Junior Kayla Hill (Massapequa, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights with 13 points off the bench hitting 5-of-7 field goals.
Senior Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) also reached double-digit scoring for Bridgeport with 12 points, and she led the team with seven rebounds.
Zaira Thomas led STAC with 14 points on the afternoon.
Turnovers were a big factor in the Lady Spartans' win, as Bridgeport committed 20 turnovers which STAC converted into 25 points; while the hosts had a total of only seven total miscues on the day.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night at home, when the Purple Knights host Molloy College at 5:00 p.m. in Hubbell Gym.
