Bridgeport, Conn.- Freshman, Briana Stoddart (Brooklyn, NY) hit a three-point shot from the top of the key with 2.5 seconds left in overtime lift the University of Bridgeport women's basketball team to a 70-68 East Coast Conference win over the visiting Daemen College Wildcats on Saturday afternoon. This victory snaps a three-game losing streak for the Purple Knights, wo are now 4-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play; while Daemen falls to 2-6 overall and is 0-3 in the ECC.
The game was a see-saw affair all day long featuring 15 ties and 21 lead changes.
Freshman Kadijah Dickson (Queens, NY) led Bridgeport in scoring with 17 points, and Stoddart, along with her game-winner, reached double-digits with 14 points plus seven rebounds and seven assists. Sophomore Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) had a double-double on the day for the winners with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
The UB women are next back on the court after the Holiday Break visiting Bentley University on December 30 at 5:00 p.m.
