Women's Basketball Makes It A Happy Senior Day With 76-67 Victory Over Molloy
Every Purple Knights' Player That Hits The Floor Nets At Least Two Points As Hosts Outscore The Visiting Lions, 40-27, In The Second Half
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team outscored the visiting Molloy College Lions, 40-27, in the second half, to come back from a 40-36 halftime deficit and post a 76-67 Senior Day victory in Hubbell Gym. The Purple Knights head into their 2014-15 season finale at Queens (N.Y.) College on Saturday afternoon winners of back-to- games with an overall record of 6-21 and a 5-15 East Coast Conference mark. Molloy slips to 11-15 overall and 7-12 in the ECC.
Every UB player that entered game had at least two points for the winners. Senior Tiara Aziz (Easton, Pa.) led four Purple Knights in double figures with 21 points.
She was joined in double-digit scoring by classmates Jennifer Kucukkaya (Sodertalje, Sweden) with 13 points and Jenna Hoffman (Manchester Center, Vt.) with 12 points. Kucukkaya also dished out eight assists for the winners.
Junior Shannon Holt (Holden, Mass.) finished the game with her second consecutive double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Nicole Arnone led Molloy with a game-high 31 points, and she finished with a double-double taking down 10 rebounds.
Thursday's game was the action in Hubbell Gym for the six seniors on the University of Bridgeport women's basketball team; Tiara Aziz, Jennifer Kucukkaya, Jenna Hoffman, Casey Bray, Lauren DeForte and Vanessa Schindler.
