Purple Knights Fall In ECC Women's Hoops Action At Molloy, 79-65
Senior Tiara Aziz Records A Double-Double With 26 Points And 12 Rebounds
Rockville Centre, N.Y.-University of Bridgeport senior Tiara Aziz (Easton, Pa.) recorded an impressive double on Thursday night scoring a game-high 26 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, but it was not enough for the vesting UB women's basketball team, as the host Molloy College Lions posted a 79-65 East Conference victory over the Purple Knights. With the defeat, Bridgeport is now 2-15 overall and 0-9 in the ECC. Molloy moves to 6-10 overall and is 2-7 in conference play.
Three UB players scored eight points apiece on Thursday; senior Jenna Hoffman (Manchester Center, Vt.), sophomore Evelyn Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) and freshman Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.)
Ovner chipped in eight rebounds for UB, and Caution grabbed five boards on the night.
Nicole Arnone led four Molloy players in double-digit scoring with 18 points, and she finished with a double-double also corralling 12 rebounds.
Up next, the UB women open up a two-game homestand versus Queens (N.Y.) College on Saturday afternoon. Action is slated to begin in Hubbell Gym at 1:00 p.m.
