Jenna Hoffman Nets 27 Points As The Purple Knights Fall 70-68 To Mercy College In ECC Women's Hoops Action
UB Back In Action On Monday At NYIT
Bridgeport, Conn.-University of Bridgeport senior Jenna Hoffman (Manchester Center, Vt.) scored a career and game-high 27 points, as she connected on a total of seven three-point shots, but it was not enough as the visiting Mercy College Mavericks rallied in the second half to post a hard-fought, 70-68, East Coast Conference women's basketball win over the host Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon. UB is now 1-6 overall and remains winless in conference play at 0-3. Mercy ups its overall mark to 7-2, and the Mavericks are an even 1-1 in the ECC.
Hoffman was joined in double-digit scoring by classmate Tiara Aziz (Easton, Pa.) with 17 points, and UB freshman Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) had a double-double in her first collegiate start scoring 12 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.
Tanayzha Augustine led Mercy with a double-double of her own with 24 points and 10 boards.
The UB women's basketball team will begin a busy week of action on Monday night when they travel to NYIT for a 5:00 p.m. East Coast Conference match-up. The Purple Knights are back in Hubbell Gym on Friday, December 19 when they host Assumption at 5:00 p.m.
