Women's Basketball Falls To Queens (N.Y.) 93-70, As QC's Madison Rowland Notches Rare Triple-Double For The Winners
Tiara Aziz Leads Purple Knights With 14 Points-UB Will Look to Get Back In Win Column At STAC On Wednesday Night
Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team dropped its third straight East Coast Conference decision falling to the visiting Queens (N.Y.) College Knights, 93-70. Saturday afternoon. With the loss UB falls to 5-13 overall and 3-9 in conference; Queens improves to 13-5, and 9-3 in the ECC.
After being down by 12 points, 56-44, early in the second half, the Purple Knights fought back with a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to five-points, 56-51 with 14:08 remaining. Over the next six minutes, however, UB went ice going not hitting a field goal and that drought saw the Purple Knights down by a 66-51 score, a deficit that they would not be able to overcome. The main reason being the play of Queens' freshman Madison Rowland who totaled a triple-double including a game-high 40 points with 13 rebounds and 11 steals.
Bridgeport was lead in scoring by junior Tiara Aziz (Easton, Pa.) who scored 14 points off the bench. Aziz was joined in double-figures by classmate Jennifer Kucukkaya (Sodertalje, Sweden) and freshman Louise Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) who each scored 10 points.
Next, UB will travel to Sparkill, N.Y. to take on the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday, February 5 at 5:30 pm. Their next home game will take place on Saturday, February 8 versus Mercy College; tip off set for 1:00 pm.
