Jennifer Kucukkaya Nets 28 Points But UB Women Fall At Molloy, 91-74
Purple Knights Back In Action At home On Saturday Versus Queens
Rockville Centre, N.Y.-University of Bridgeport junior Jennifer Kucukkaya (Sodertalje, Sweden) scored a game-high 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 27 minutes of play of the Purple Knights' bench, but it was not enough as UB suffered a 91-74 East Coast Conference road loss at Molloy College on Thursday night. Bridgeport is now 5-12 overall and 3-8 in conference play on the year, and Molloy ups its overall record to 9-9. The Lions are now 6-5 n the ECC.
Molloy led 43-31 at the half, and the Lions opened the second half on a 12-0 run to put the game away early in the final stanza.
Kucukkaya was joined in double figures for Bridgeport by senior Aziza Patterson (Teaneck, N.J.) with 12 points, and freshman Louise Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) with 10 points.
Kelly Guerriro and Kimani Jackson each netted 20 points for the winners.
The UB women's basketball team is back in action at home on Saturday when they host Queens (N.Y.) College. Action is scheduled to begin in Hubbell Gym at 1:00 p.m.
