Queens Rallies To Post 60-53 Overtime ECC Win Over Women's Hoops
UB Returns Home To Face St. Thomas Aquinas On Wednesday Night
Flushing, N.Y.-The Queens (N.Y.) College women's basketball team rallied from a 28-13 halftime deficit to pick up a 60-53 East Coast Conference win in overtime against the visiting University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on a snowy Saturday afternoon in New York City. The win raises Queens' overall record to 7-3, and QC is now 3-1 in conference play. UB slips to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the ECC.
Juniors Tiara Aziz (Easton, Pa.) and Jennifer Kucukkaya (Sodertalje, Sweden) led Bridgeport in scoring on the day, as they each netted 14 points. Classmate Jenna Hoffman (Manchester Center, Vt.) also reached double-digit scoring for the Purple Knights with 10 points.
Sophomore Shannon Holt (Holden, Mass.) led UB on the glass with nine rebounds.
MacKenzie Rowland led the winners with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Bridgeport and Queens were tied 53-53 at the end of regulation.
The Purple Knights will look to snap a six-game losing streak when they are next in action at home on Wednesday, December 18 when they host St. Thomas Aquinas College in ECC action. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 p.m.
