Molloy Defeats Women's Basketball, 70-52
Jennifer Kucukkaya Nets A Game-High 21 Points In Losing Effort
Bridgeport, Conn.– The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team dropped a 70-52 decision to the Molloy College Lions on Wednesday evening in the team's 2013-14 home East Coast Conference opener. The loss, Bridgeport's fifth straight; drops UB's record to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the ECC. Molloy improves to 5-2 overall and a perfect 2-0 in conference play.
Bridgeport led 31-25 at the half, but saw that lead slip away as the Lions opened the second stanza on a 9-0 run. The game was tied 41-41 with 9:44 remaining in the game when Molloy blitzed the Purple Knights a 24-6 run over an eight minute span to put the game away.
Bridgeport junior guard Jennifer Kucukkaya (Sodertalje, Sweden) scored a game and career-high 21 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Classmate Tiara Aziz (Easton, Pa.) joined Kucukkaya in double digit scoring with 13 points.
Nicole Arnone led Molloy with 17 points on the night.
The Purple Knights will be back in action on Saturday, December 14 as they travel to Flushing, New York to take on Queens College at 3:30 pm. Their next home game will take place on Wednesday, December 18 at 5:00 pm when they face off versus St. Thomas Aquinas.
