Second Half Runs Lifts UB Women Over Molloy, 65-54
Purple Knights Now 17-8 Overall And 12-5 In Conference Play
Bridgeport, Conn.- The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team defeated the Molloy College Lions on Wednesday night. 65-54, after breaking open a game that was tied 33-32 at the half. The game also featured 12 ties and nine lead changes. The Purple Knights trailed 45-44 with 12:29 remaining in the second half, before going on a 14-0 run over the next four minutes to pull away for the victory. The win is UB's third in a row, and fourth in their last five outings. The Purple Knights record now sits at 17-8 on the season, and 12-5 in the East Coast Conference. With the loss, Molloy drops to 9-16 overall and 5-12 in the ECC.
UB senior Tanisha Carter (E. Hartford, Conn.) led all scorers with 20 points on the night, while shooting 9-of-12 from the floor. Teammate. graduate student Priscilla Dodoo (Worcester, Mass.) put together an all-around quality performance with 16 points, 18 boards, seven assists and four steals.
Sophomore Jenna Hoffman (Manchester Center, Vt.) added 13 points, joining Carter and Dodoo in double figures. Fellow sophomore Casey Bray (Staten Island, N.Y.) made her first start of the year turning in a solid nine points and seven rebounds.
Ashley Addison led Molloy with 15 points in the contest.
The Bridgeport women's basketball team finishes up the regular season on Saturday, at home, against ECC-leading Dowling College. The game is Senior Day and Breast Cancer Awareness day, and is set to tip off at 1:00 p.m. in the Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium.
