LIU Post Tops Women's Basketball, 73-68, In ECC Opener For Both Teams
Purple Knights Return Home To Face UDC Next Saturday, December 8
Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball fell to the host LIU Post Pioneers, 73-68, in the 2012-13 East Coast Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon on Long Island. UB is now 5-2 overall and 0-1 in the ECC. LIU Post remains undefeated so far this season at 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Junior Aziza Patterson (Teaneck, N.J.) led UB and all scorers on the day with 24 points, and she also grabbed nine rebounds. Bridgeport's Priscilla Dodoo (Grad. Student, Worcester, Mass.) also topped the 20-point plateau netting 21 points. Senior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) rounded out the Purple Knights' double-digit scorers with 14 points.
Nicolette Marciniak and Chelsea Williams led the Pioneers as they each scored 18 points. Samantha Kopp recorded a double-double for LIU Post with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Saturday's contest was a sloppy affair as the two teams combined for a total of 56 turnovers, 32 by the Pioneers and 24 for the Purple Knights.
The Bridgeport women's basketball team is back in action one week from today on Saturday, December 8, when the Purple Knights played their 2012-13 ECC home opener versus the University of the District of Columbia. Tip-off in Hubbell Gym is set for 1:00 p.m.
