University of Bridgeport Set For A Busy Week Of East Coast Conference Women's & Men's Basketball Action
UB To Host 2011 Women's & Men's ECC Hoops Semifinals and Finals On Saturday & Sunday March 5th & 6th Plus A Women's Quarterfinal Contest Versus Molloy On Wednesday Night
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport's Hubbell Gym is the place to be for some of the best in NCAA Davison II Women's and Men's Basketball action this week, as UB will host an East Coast Conference Women's Championship Tournament Quarterfinal game on Wednesday night and both the Semifinals and Finals of 2011 ECC Basketball Championships Tournaments on Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6.
A busy week of basketball action gets underway on Wednesday night March 2 at 6:00 p.m. when head coach Stephanie Del Preore and the Bridgeport women's team hosts Molloy College. UB comes in as the number three seed in the tournament with a 15-13 overall record (13-8 ECC mark), and Molloy enters Wednesday's game as the tournament's number six seed with an 8-20 overall record (8-13 mark. in the ECC).
On Saturday, March 5, a busy day of basketball will get underway at 12 noon as a women's doubleheader begins with the tournament's number one, St. Thomas Aquinas College (21-7 overall, 17-4 ECC) taking on the winner of Wednesday night's 4/5 matchup between C.W. Post and Queens (N.Y.) College. At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, the winner of Wednesday's Bridgeport/Molloy contest will face the number two seed Dowling College (17-11 overall, 15-6 ECC).
After the women's games, the ECC men's semifinals will tip-off at 5:00 p.m. with the number one seed University of Bridgeport Purple Knights (18-8 overall, 18-3 ECC) hosting the winner of Wednesday night's 4/5 men's quarterfinal between New York and Molloy. At 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, the number two seed C.W. Post Pioneers will take on the winner of Wednesday's 3/6 game between Queens (N.Y.) College and Dowling College.
On Sunday, March 6, Saturday's winners will meet with an NCAA Division II Championship Tournament bid on the line. The 2011 ECC Women's Basketball Championship Final will start at 12 noon; followed by the men's final at 2:30 p.m.
Ticket prices for all dates of competition: $5 for adults; $2 for students (with ID), senior citizens and children 5 and up; children under 5 are free of charge
