UB Women Fall At Queens, 68-61
Purple Knights See Three-Game Win Streak Come To An End; Senior Kelly Keil Records Second Straight Double-Double With 24 Points and 14 Boards
Flushing, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end on Monday night, as the Purple Knights dropped an East Coast Conference road game against the Queens (N.Y.) College Knights by a 68-61 score. With the loss, UB is now 9-11 overall and 7-6 in conference play. Queens is now 8-12 overall, and the Knights are also 7-6 in the ECC.
QC's Amanda Bartlett led all scorers in the game with 26 points, and she was joined in double figures by Chloe Johnson who contributed 14 points for the winners.
Bridgeport senior, center Kelly Keil (Sparta, N.J.) recorded a double-double for the second straight game and for the sixth time this season with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Keil was joined in double-figures scoring by classmate Elinor Avny (Raanaana, Israel), who had 10 points.
Three-point shooting was big difference in the game as Queens went 10 of 27 from beyond the arc; while Bridgeport struggled hitting only 2 of 15 shots from downtown.
UB won the battle of the boards outrebounding Queens, 44-33.
The Purple Knights are next scheduled to be in action at home on Wednesday night when they host C.W. Post University. Game time in Hubbell Gym is set for 5:00 p.m.
