UB Women Dominate Glass In 70-57 Home Win Over Queens
Purple Knights Outrebound QC, 56-37
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team dominated the glass as they outrebounded the visiting Queens (N.Y.) College Knights by a 56 to 37 margin on Wednesday night, as the Purple Knights posted a 70-57 home East Coast Conference victory. The win raises UB's overall record to 5-7, and the team is now 3-2 in ECC play. The loss drops Queens to 4-9 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
Bridgeport senior center Kelly Keil (Sparta, N.J.) led all scored and rebounders in the game with an impressive double-double scoring 29 points and grabbing 15 rebounds, 11 of which came on the offensive end. As a team, the Purple Knights pulled down 27 offensive rebounds.
Keil was joined in double figure scoring by junior Edna Marant (Philadelphia, Pa.), who scored
10 points of the UB bench.
Also grabbing double-digit rebounds for Bridgeport were juniors Julia Colley (Harlow, England) and Ivy Morrison (Topeka, Kan.) who each had 11 boards.
Junior Amanda Bartlett Led Queens with 21 points on the night.
The UB women are next in action at St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
